Conference Basics

The conference is being held at AmericInn at Chamberlain. Call the hotel at 605-234-0985. Mention Family Child Care Professionals to reserve your $120, 2 queen bed room with free breakfast. Online reservations will not give you this rate.
We will have an ice cream social Friday Night after our 7 PM session. We will serve lunch and an afternoon refreshment on Saturday.
VIP Admissions will receive a wonderful 5 PM Friday Evening Banquet, a $20 gift card to use at the vendor tables, $15 gift card for the Silent Auction, a free professional book of your choice and a ticket for a Gift Basket drawing.
8 hours of classroom training will be credited to those who attend the entire conference.

Class Title: Emotion Motion
Learn how to teach children to be more aware of their bodies' response to stress and ways to help them calm themselves down. Attendees will have an opportunity to make and take an emotional calming glitter bottle. Understanding how to help children self-regulate while building their resiliency and gaining an understanding of mindfulness practices.

Are you a "nature nerd" or do you feel disconnected from the outdoors? Either way, there is always room to discover more about the wonders of nature. Join in to explore ways of using nature with children both in and out of the classroom. Discover ways to boost your own curiosity and sense of adventure in the great outdoors.

This session will address the importance of understanding child development and help you to gain an understanding of age-appropriate guidance and how to pick up on the behaviors and cues exhibited in young children.

Strong literacy skills are essential for children’s success in school and beyond. In this session you will learn evidence-based strategies that prepare children for literacy instruction and help launch them towards proficiency. We will discuss how to weave language and literacy into the day in ways that fit your setting and children’s needs and interests. Intended for providers working with children from birth to kindergarten entry.
